Recently, the Asus launched Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 at the starting price of Rs. 10,999 in the lower middle class category, and we compared it in the broadest comparison of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Now, this segment has time to introduce the latest genfone against Honor 7X another popular smartphone.
DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
The premium that looks and feels, should not be from the high-end segment. With the smooth and strong metal designs in the budget-oriented value bracket, now a common sight is happening, lower mid-range smartphones appear quite dolly-worthy.
What is the same in the design of M1 and 7X? Both phones are made of metal and naturally they have a solid experience for them. Both come with dual camera setup on their respective backsides and receive 5.9 inches of full HD + display.
What’s different in the design of M1 and 7X? However, M1 has two obvious advantages in this regard – it is less slippery to capture; Secondly, because it packs a huge 5,000 mAh battery and is thus thick, the overall grip is better. In addition, thickness does not make the phone heavy, but only enough to catch. In addition, there is no main camera hip behind the M1.
DISPLAY, SOFTWARE & UI
A screen measuring approximately 6 inches, appears to be a preferred option for many phone makers, who intend to provide many multimedia experiences. So this is the case in case of Genfon M1 and Honor 7X.
What is the same in the performance of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Honor 7X? IPS LCD panels provide full HD + (1080p x 2160p) resolution 5.99 in Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and 5.93 inches in case of Honor 7X.
What is the difference between their performance? Although nothing like this is not clear, but a good closer will pay a little attention, but often noticeable, differences in color tonality and overall white balance. This usually appears during gaming. We are actually infiltrating the details here, otherwise, there is nothing to complain about the display.
Coming in the operating system – M1 comes with pure Android OREO 8.1 which is still the latest. On the other hand, Honor 7X comes back here because it still runs Android Naugate 7.0 with Huwai’s custom skin, EMUI 5.1. Pure Android and EMU-based Android varies in the case of appearing and feeling in some functions. For example, you get an App drawer in the M1, while there is no app drawer in 7X.
PERFORMANCE (including Gaming)
In comparison, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Radmi Note 5 Pro were very close in performance, however, M1 and Honor 7X are slightly different in the same aspect.
Once again, navigating through different phone screens (home, app drawer, settings) in various tasks, there is nothing to write with both handsets coming in almost equally smooth and satisfactory feedback. He said, M1 looks more consistent because 7X runs randomly in the stator.
It is more obvious when using various social media apps and browsing the Internet. Also, when at least 4-5 apps are opened in the background, the M1 maintains its smoothness while the 7x generates instantaneous interval.
Gaming – This is the biggest weakness of Honor 7X. Playing graphical-heavy games such as Asphalt 8 (car racing), despite a decent big screen, is mostly unsatisfactory experience. The gameplay of this type of game runs with fewer framerates, which brings a regular interval experience.
And Yes, it starts hurting a player’s performance in many situations, which demands quick response during the gameplay (for example, to avoid gun fire or to turn quick into a car racing game). Obviously, Kirin 659 is not a match for GPU, Mali-T830 MP3 Snapdragon 636 and Adreno 50 9 GPU, even though they all compete in one segment.
On that note, the M1 Fair is better in the gaming department as well as the performance is more smooth and the phone’s chipset is largely faced with framerate requirements. There are signs of random conflicts here and there but there is no greater harm than that. Not yet, at least not.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 Camera: Dual camera with 13 MP + 5 MP primary and secondary lens with the F-2.2 and F 2.4 aperture respectively of PDAF, HDR, Bokeh mode. 8 MP front camera with F 2.2 aperture.
Honor 7X camera: 16 MP + 2 MP dual camera with primary and secondary lens with F 2.2 aperture for 16 MP lenses, PDAF, HDR, Portrait and Wide Aperture mode. 8 MP front camera with F 2.0 aperture.
Below are a few samples from the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 camera
Below are a few samples from the Honor 7x camera
The general overview is that the M1 camera goes to color 7X to keep the colors more natural than what can be seen in the images. In addition, HDR samples from M1 are more specific and effective than HDR samples from 7x (which almost look similar to their respective non-HDR images). Details are less or more similar to the camera. And we are disappointed with the dedicated Bokay images from both phones.
The M5, with its 5,000 mAh battery, easily overlays the Honor 7X (which is 3,340 mAh unit). The difference is so big that the Honor 7X is not really a match for the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. Let us tell here that Honor 7X provides good battery life because it lasts for one and a half days with normal use (to avoid heavy camera usage and negligible amount of video viewing). With similar use, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 lasts for 2 days without any difficulty, and occasionally, we have managed to take it before a 2-day mark without making any noticeable changes in our usage pattern .
However, battery performance is not surprising for us because we expect to run long in more than one charge, in spite of its segments, any smartphone with 5000 mAh battery. In addition, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 supports fast charging and comes with a 10W charger, which can charge up to 5,000 mAh batteries in less than 2 to 30 minutes. Also, Hono 7X does not support fast charging and its 3,340 mAh battery can be fully charged in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Price In India
Last but not the least, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage can be had at a price of Rs 12,999 while the Honor 7X with same configuration is available at Rs 15,999 (on Honor India website). This difference of Rs 3,000 can’t be ignored making it eventually quite easy for us to with the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
